PYTHON IS GAINING POPULARITY AMONG DATA SCIENTISTS | Sankhyana Consultancy Services
Data Scientists “the world best job” in the data-driven world. It is the most dominated job that commands great salary and has a massive demand. Data scientist's job role has gained a lot of popularity in the recent past. They have many options when it comes to choosing an analytical tool for data analysis. In this blog, we will tell you about the top Analytical weapon of Data Scientists.
According to a survey from “Burtch Works” Python is gaining popularity among data scientists. The survey was conducted among 1200 data scientists and around 33% of them preferred Python as their first choice, 33% preferred R Programming as their first choice and 34% preferred SAS as their first choice. Miss “Linda Burtch” (Managing Director at Burtch works) says that this year we have witnessed something that never happened before. This is the first time we have seen that SAS; R & Python all stand on the same level. The survey found that R & Python gains popularity among 5 or less than 5 years of experienced professionals. On the other hand, SAS continues to attract 16 years or more than 16 years of experienced professionals. The Managing director at Burtch Works says that “The three-year trend at the early career level clearly shows that python is gaining at the expense of R, and we've often found that shits at the early career level can foreshadow changes in the market”.
Why Python attracts data scientists? Python has been growing rapidly in the last few years. According to the Stack Overflow survey, it is the most popular language. Python has recorded year-over-year growth in the last 5 years. It is easiest programming language in the world, compare to other programming languages. Python is an open-source, high-level and object-oriented language. It is designed in such a way to deal with various forms of data structures. The syntax of python is easy to learn without compiling step.

Python is best suited for scripting, rapid application development, and shifting and sorting data from various sources. It is widely used by data scientists because of its ease of use and simple syntax which makes it easy to adapt for them. It is also easy to use because of its amazing versatility. Many data scientists are using python for back end services, which provides the machine learning model deployment. Many data scientists are using python libraries for web scraping, which helps them to extract data from the internet and upload it into a data frame for analysis.
It has also huge number of libraries which can help in a variety of tasks like graphical user interface, automation, multimedia, text, databases and image processing. The programs written in python can be moved to any operating system without any technical issues.
The Career scope in the python profession is very promising. The Burtch Works report shows that Python is the best choice for freshers to make a career in this domain.
